“I Want People to Feel Seen”: Amber Renee on Purpose, Pop Culture & Becoming the Full Package
For Amber Renee, music has never been just about singing — it’s about creating moments people can feel forever. Inspired by legendary entertainers like Aaliyah, Brandy, Destiny's Child, and Britney Spears, Amber blends smooth R&B energy, pop influence, vulnerability, and star-quality ambition into music designed to make listeners feel understood, inspired, and empowered.
From childhood performances in front of family members to collaborating with T-Pain, Amber Renee continues building toward a vision much bigger than music alone — one rooted in impact, authenticity, and timeless entertainment.
What first made you realize music was more than just a hobby for you?
It was really a collaboration of moments that pushed me toward taking music seriously. Around 8 or 9 years old, I knew I wanted to be an entertainer. Growing up, I would always put on concerts for my family. My mom influenced me a lot because she would sing and dance around the house constantly, and I loved her voice. Watching music videos and performances with her made me realize, “This is it.”
How would you describe your creative process when making music?
After listening to a beat, I usually start with the melody first. Once I figure out the melody, I start adding words to it naturally.
Who were some of your biggest influences growing up?
Watching Aaliyah, Britney Spears, Brandy, and Destiny’s Child influenced me heavily as a kid because I wanted to do what they did. I studied how they dressed, performed, and carried themselves outside of music too. I don’t just want to be known as an artist — I want to be an entertainer. I think being an entertainer captures the music, personality, image, and overall presence.
If somebody was listening to your music for the first time, what song should they start with?
Definitely Clock It. It feels like the new wave I’m entering creatively. The song isn’t super fast, but it’s not a ballad either. It’s smooth, chill, and still has groove to it — which describes me perfectly.

What’s been one of the biggest obstacles you’ve faced in your career so far?
Having a song with T-Pain and it not getting the traction I thought it deserved was difficult. Looking back, a lot of that came down to not having the right marketing team behind it at the time. But I overcame it by continuing to make music and refusing to give up. I still believe that song can blow up no matter how long it takes.
What kind of music inspires you emotionally the most?
Every time I hear Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson, I get emotional and inspired. I remember crying the first time I heard it as a kid because it was so beautiful and uplifting. That song made me want to create music that makes people truly feel something the way his music did.
How do you view the current state of Pop and R&B music?
I feel like Pop and R&B today doesn’t hit quite as hard as it did in the 2000s and 2010s. There are definitely some gems out right now, but I naturally fit more into that 2000s era vibe — just with my own modern twist because nobody is me.
What’s one thing people misunderstand about you as an artist?
People sometimes think chasing big dreams means you’re self-centered, but for me it’s about purpose, impact, and inspiring others. People often see the aesthetic before they see the work ethic. A lot of sacrifice, discipline, and faith goes into what I do. My music explains parts of me that my personality doesn’t always reveal.
What kind of legacy do you hope to leave through your music?
Years from now, I want people to say my music made them feel seen. I want people to feel healed, inspired to dream bigger, and reminded to stay soft in a world that tries to harden you. If a small-town girl like me can make it, I want others to believe they can too.
What can fans expect from you next?
Just prepare to be sick of me! New music and visuals are on the way, and it’s about to get crazy.
