And Kim Zolciak Wept

Nothing about what’s happening with Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s son, Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr., is funny. The allegations are serious, heinous, and, if proven true, will have a lifelong impact on the alleged victim(s) and all respective family members. However, the moment Kim and Kroy got together, and Kim got on her high horse after successfully transitioning from the h*e to housewife pipeline, anyone with sense could foresee her eventual downfall. 

For years, Kim put herself and her family on a pedestal, giving her former co-stars her ass to kiss the moment she found her Midwestern white king. Add in the alleged racism, coupled with her being made famous on a predominantly Black show, and the audacity was even more infuriating. Kim has always felt she was above reproach, but this season in her life has shown her otherwise. And as my mama has always said, “Be careful how you treat others, because karma can always come back on your children.” This may unfortunately be a prime example of such.

 Kim Zolciak has always been devoid of morality

From the moment RHOA viewers were introduced to Kim, she’s been reckless. Yes, she’s given entertainment moments, but she’s always lacked in the ethics department. In Seasons 1-2, Kim was openly dating a legally married man, whom she affectionately called Big Papa, who was a successful real estate tycoon in the Georgia area with adult children and enormous wealth that she benefited from. 

He showered her with lavish gifts that she boasted proudly about on camera, funded her and her children’s lives, took her on extravagant vacations, and even proposed to her. She insisted he’d been separated for some time and their relationship should not be defined by his legalities. They had an off-and-on romance, and during one of their off periods, she met Kroy.

Hello Kroy, goodbye everything else

Kroy, seven years her junior and a football player for the Atlanta Falcons, was instantly smitten. Not that Kim was not attracted to Kroy or developed feelings, but my gut tells me she saw Kroy as a come-up who she could manipulate and secure a life for herself and her kids with her ability to assimilate into whatever he desired, with her blonde wigs and easily conformable personality. And that’s exactly what she did. Kim went from a cigarette-smoking, cursing-like-a-sailor, hanging around the Black gay male and elite women of the A - to a southern football player’s arm candy, unwilling to be bothered with her usual circle. 

Her relationship with her parents quickly became estranged, as she seemed embarrassed by them and accused them of toxicity after previously crediting them on camera for helping her raise her daughters. Kim slowly stopped filming with the rest of the RHOA crew, preferring to focus on scenes with her family, claiming it was due to her not wanting to be drama-centered. Sure. Within months of dating Kroy, she was pregnant with their first child, KJ. They’d go on to wed and welcome three additional children within just a few years. She acrimoniously exited the show midway through Season 5 for her own spinoff. 

The “Don’t Be Tardy” drama

Long before her spinoff Don’t Be Tardy, the title was enriched in RHOA history. That’s because Kim, being the opportunist that she is, used her blossoming friendship with Kandi to usher her into another level of superstardom by having Kandi use her Grammy-winning pen skills to produce and autotune a single of the same title for her. Season 3 showcased Kim’s takeover as a one-hit wonder, performing alongside Kandi and elsewhere as her single rose to the top of the digital charts. Kandi, ever the patient one, dealt with Kim’s diva antics on the road. 

Kim played games in the studio, didn’t want to rehearse, complained about her amateur accommodations, and was overall ungrateful. Their friendship would unravel after business soured during production of Kim’s second single, “The Ring Didn’t Mean a Thing.” Kim shared her frustrations with the recording process behind Kandi’s back, and the song never saw the light of day. Kandi would eventually sue Kim for unpaid royalties for the song after it was revealed that Kandi wasn’t getting what she deserved from the pie, and they never fully recovered.

Flash forward to Kim getting her spinoff with the same title, still profiting from Kandi’s work. The spinoff would last six seasons with lackluster ratings, but let Kim tell it, she had the number one situation on Bravo, and felt she was better than her RHOA past and co-stars. 

When she did make her few appearances on RHOA after getting her spinoff, she was pretentious. She showed up late, or not at all, to film scenes. She came in combative and constantly accused her co-stars of being jealous of her life with her husband and kids, which was unwarranted. She had Kroy drive her and accompany her to every event, despite him not interacting with anyone in the cast outside of Sheree Whitfield, and she was a tyrant online who’d then lie about what she said on X (formerly Twitter), and during her confessionals, despite it being filmed. Kim was insufferable. 

The kingdom comes crashing down

Around the time that Kim’s spinoff was cancelled, which she claims was not axed, the cracks in Kroy and Kim’s marriage began to show. By now, we’ve all read about and seen the effects of their financial issues, the police bodycam footage of Kim and Kroy’s domestic disputes, and the custody battle. Kim reportedly lost primary custody of the children earlier this summer, getting only a handful of visits a month. Now, with KJ out on bond, he’ll be living with her under strict supervision. 

She’s dating a new man, one who is also legally married to his estranged wife, whom Kroy is now dating. What in the entire Tyler Perry plot. And yes, this man is also wealthy, and apparently in the real estate business. 

It seems Kim and Kroy have been worried about everything but their kids. God only knows the turmoil and trauma those kids experienced as their parents were spending and fighting frivolously. Kim’s adult children have even admitted that Kim and Kroy spent the money they earned from social media partnerships. The ghetto.

Kim got too big for her britches early on in the RHOA days, and her ego and privilege kept her there. She’s been out of touch for some time. Now, as she tries to rebuild her own personal life, her children are in positions she cannot save or protect them from. 

I am sure she’s hurting as a mother and wondering where she went wrong. Hopefully, this is a humbling moment for her, and a cautionary tale to those watching: invest more in what is happening within the home, versus the optics of what the home looks like. Material things come and go, but the proof is often in your offspring. No, we cannot control our children, but there’s a foundation that can be set for certain things to be avoided. Your children are a mirror of how you show up in the world.
