Miguel Wilson has built his life on the understanding that elegance can open doors—and exposure can change lives. From his modest beginnings in the DMV to his current stature as one of the nation’s premier menswear clothiers, Wilson’s journey is defined by faith, fashion, and the equestrian sport of polo.

Miguel Wilson: From Faith & Fashion to Polo & Legacy | Soul Symphony Weekend

As a boy, Wilson didn’t grow up surrounded by wealth or luxury. A chance encounter at a horse farm altered the trajectory of his life. “Horses changed everything for me,” he reflects. Watching polo players from at a barn just outside of his neighborhood, he saw a world that felt a universe away from his home. A world of precision, power, and polish. Miguel didn’t just watch—he dared to step into it. That step became the foundation for a lifelong mission: to create spaces where young men of color could see themselves reflected in places that once seemed unreachable.

Today, Wilson’s name is synonymous with luxury menswear. His tailored suits and bespoke designs are worn by entertainers, athletes, and grooms who want to look like they belong beside their brides in the most photographed moments of their lives. His creations do more than clothe men; they elevate them. Wilson has become the designer who can take a young man and dress him in a way that makes him feel like a king—sharp, commanding, and unforgettable.

But fashion, for Wilson, has always been about more than fabric. It’s about legacy. Which is why, alongside his thriving stores and brand, he continues to return to the game that first broadened his horizons: polo. Wilson’s passion has taken shape in groundbreaking ways, from founding the first HBCU polo team at Morehouse College to establishing the nation’s first African-American high school polo team at Atlanta’s Best Academy.

For him, the work at the high school level is especially meaningful. “The boys at Morehouse already have a support system,” he explains. “But the young men at Best Academy—many of them come from homes where opportunities like this just don’t exist. Polo is completely free for them. All they have to bring is hard work, and their parents do the same.”

Polo doesn’t just teach athletic skill—it teaches discipline, teamwork, and exposure to a network of people and possibilities. For boys who may never have stepped foot on a polo field, the chance to compete in the sport of kings is life-changing.

And Miguel does not carry this vision alone. His wife, Chancey, stands beside him—not just as a partner in marriage, but as a force within his mission.

Miguel’s fashion empire was built on a simple truth: men deserve to look as extraordinary as the women beside them. His boutiques have dressed celebrities, grooms, and professionals who want more than a suit—they want presence.

Miguel is especially known for his wedding-day collections, where he transforms men into visions equal to their brides. His artistry allows men to step into photographs and memories as if they belong on the cover of a magazine. “It’s your day too,” his campaign reminds grooms. His genius lies not just in tailoring fabric but in tailoring identity.

“Clothing changes everything,” Miguel often says. “It changes how the world sees you and how you see yourself.” His designs are about instilling confidence. They allow men to express their manhood in ways that are both creative and classic, bold and dignified.

For Miguel, vision is not a solo endeavor. Chancey Wilson, a nurse by trade and mother before their marriage, understands the weight of sacrifice. She knows firsthand the challenges of raising a son alone, which makes her uniquely empathetic to the families Miguel’s polo programs serve.

“When I look at these mothers, I see myself,” Chancey says. “I know what it feels like to give everything to raise your child. Being able to stand alongside them while their sons discover something extraordinary—that means everything to me.”

Chancey’s role goes beyond support. She is woven into the very fabric of Miguel’s mission—present at events, encouraging young men, and serving as a reminder that this work is not just about elegance and luxury but about community and compassion. She has even been known to join Miguel on horseback with a polo mallet of her own.

This vision of faith, fashion, and polo converges each year at Soul Symphony Weekend—a three-day experience curated to inspire, uplift, and redefine what community looks like. Scheduled for September 19–21, the inaugural Soul Symphony Weekend sets a new standard for Black-led excellence in event culture.

The weekend begins with a kickoff party, followed by Saturday’s symphony and fashion show, where guests are required to attend in white tuxedo jackets and black beaded gowns. Sunday concludes with polo, styled with all the glamour of derby attire. The meticulous dress codes aren’t frivolous—they’re intentional. For Miguel, fashion elevates the experience and reinforces his belief that presentation matters.

“I want people to remember where they were that weekend,” Miguel explains. “It’s not just about entertainment. It’s about creating moments that live forever.”

The event is as global as it is local. London-based composer Cam Stewart will perform in his U.S. debut, and Grammy-nominated R&B powerhouse Syleena Johnson will bring her soulful voice to the stage. Together, they highlight Miguel’s commitment to blending high art with community access.

Sponsors such as Bentley of Atlanta affirm the luxury aesthetic while rooting the event in philanthropy. Attendees don’t just enjoy a glamorous weekend—they support the ongoing polo programs that Miguel and Chancey provide for young men who might otherwise never encounter the sport of kings.

For all the polish, Miguel insists his foundation is faith. “Every year, I say I won’t do it again,” he admits with a smile. “And every year, God provides a way. The DJs, the chefs, the designers, the vendors—it all comes together like it was meant to be.”

Miguel’s work is not about ego—it’s about calling. Each suit he designs, each event he hosts, each polo match he organizes flows from his belief that faith fuels legacy. His is not a story of mere success but of service, of using personal triumphs to create communal transformation.

Miguel and Chancey Wilson are doing more than hosting a fancy event or hosting a polo party. They are building a legacy that bridges fashion and philanthropy, elegance and accessibility, faith and community.

For Miguel, tailoring suits is about much more than clothing men—it’s about teaching them to step into the fullness of who they are. For Chancey, supporting polo programs is more than standing on the sidelines—it’s standing with mothers who dream of more for their sons.

Together, they have reimagined what it means to lead with excellence, proving that fashion and philanthropy can walk hand-in-hand, and that the sport of kings can belong to every boy bold enough to ride.
