The word “classic” is often used to describe the work of fashion and wardrobe stylist Brian D. Robinson (BDR)—but when it comes to his journey, resilient is the word that defines him best. With eight years in the fashion industry, BDR has built an impressive career rooted in passion, creativity, and an undeniable eye for style.

Hailing from Baltimore, MD, BDR began his career as the Lead Stylist for OpenFly Magazine, collaborating with independent designers and boutiques to craft compelling lookbooks and fashion stories. His drive and talent led him to New York City, where he expanded his expertise to include clothing design, launching his highly anticipated brand, BDR Black, in 2020.

BDR’s impeccable styling and design vision have made him a sought-after name in the entertainment industry. His celebrity clientele includes Keyshia Cole, Kim Fields, Naturi Naughton, Bobby V., Afro B, Angela & Vanessa Simmons, and Grammy Award-winning group Dru Hill. His expertise has also been showcased through collaborations with major networks like Bravo and VH1, where he has styled reality stars including Robyn Dixon, Karen Huger, Erica Mena, Yandy Smith-Harris, Cyn Santana, and Malaysia Pargo.

With a background in fashion merchandising and luxury retail, BDR possesses a deep understanding of designer aesthetics, color theory, fit, proportion, and textiles. His approach to styling is both strategic and intuitive, blending everyday lifestyle elements to create signature looks that enhance his clients’ individuality. His brand, BDR Black, is a testament to his ability to merge high fashion with personal expression, offering pieces that exude sophistication and boldness.

Since launching BDR Black in Atlanta, GA, during Atlanta Fashion Week in 2023, Robinson has found that the city has embraced his designs so much that he is making the move to further his career in Atlanta. As an emerging city for fashion, Atlanta has proven to be a thriving hub for creativity, culture, and innovation. BDR is excited to contribute to the very fabric of the city’s growing fashion scene, bringing his expertise and unique design perspective to this dynamic and evolving industry.

Beyond his contributions to celebrity styling and fashion design, BDR continues to make an impact in the industry through special activations and collaborations. This February, he will return to Bloomingdale's Lenox Square Mall for a month-long Black History Month activation, celebrating Black excellence in fashion and design. This partnership is a reflection of BDR’s ongoing commitment to creating spaces for representation and innovation within the fashion world.

A true visionary, BDR’s mission is simple: Envision. Create. Transform. Whether styling for the red carpet, designing a custom wardrobe, or leading fashion activations, he remains dedicated to helping each client step into the best version of themselves—one impeccably styled look at a time.
