The BET Experience 2025, presented by SheaMoisture, opened its doors this Saturday at the Los Angeles Convention Center with an unforgettable day of Black culture in motion. From raw talent to refined beauty, from main stage performances to intimate masterclasses, the energy was vibrant, communal, and creatively electric.

BETX Open Casting Call: Dreams in Motion

The day began with purpose and promise as aspiring actors lined up for the highly anticipated BETX Open Casting Call. This wasn’t just an audition—it was a moment. Hopefuls from across the country poured their passion into monologues and scenes, performing for an elite panel of film insiders and casting executives.

There was a quiet power in those rooms—tears, applause, nervous laughter, and the kind of soul-stirring performances that only come from a deep desire to be seen. From first-time actors to seasoned dreamers, the diversity of talent was remarkable. It wasn’t just a casting call—it was a collective declaration: we are ready.

Layout, Flow, and Vibes: A Seamless Cultural Playground

Walking the convention floor, one thing stood out immediately—BET nailed the layout. The event was expansive but intentional, offering enough space to explore while still feeling curated and connected. Every activation had purpose, every room had a vibe.

From bustling lounges to quiet corners of creativity, the floor plan kept the energy high and the crowd moving comfortably. BET found the sweet spot between scale and intimacy, making it easy to discover new experiences while soaking in the collective joy of being in community.

Beauty Meets Knowledge at Tyler Perry’s Sistas Salon

In one of the most refreshing spaces of the day, Tyler Perry’s Sistas Salon offered a sanctuary of self-care and empowerment. A series of masterclass sessions led by top-tier skin and hair experts gave attendees insider tips to elevate their beauty routines.

It was more than glam—it was education. From product breakdowns to real-world application techniques, guests walked away with practical, transformative advice. A beautiful reminder that beauty is a craft—and our crowns deserve care.

Main Stage Magic: BossMan Dlow, Mario, Amerie & Anycia Set It Off

We made our way over to the Fan Fest Main Stage just in time to catch a lineup that brought the house down. Performances from BossMan Dlow, Mario, Amerie, and Anycia turned the convention into a concert.

Anycia hit the stage first and owned it—commanding attention, feeding off the crowd’s energy, and proving herself a breakout favorite. Her performance was confident, controlled, and completely captivating.

Mario followed with a full set that reminded fans why he’s a legend. With dancers, effortless vocal runs, and a stage presence that never misses, he delivered a performance full of finesse and soul.

BossMan Dlow brought raw energy that shook the room. Each track pulled in more fans, with the crowd dancing and rapping every word. His magnetic presence made it impossible to look away.

And of course, Amerie added her timeless flavor, blending nostalgic bops with a modern twist. Every performance felt personal and powerful, and the fans responded with open hearts and loud voices.

BMF Cast Takeover – Real Talk, Real Legacy

Fans of BMF were treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the STARZ original series as Da’Vinchi, Russell Hornsby, Michole Briana White, and showrunner Heather Zuhlke sat down for a deeply engaging panel.

The discussion touched on everything from character arcs to the cultural significance of telling the Flenory family’s story. Hornsby’s gravitas, White’s emotional transparency, Da’Vinchi’s charisma, and Zuhlke’s insight made it clear—this series isn’t just entertainment, it’s legacy work. The crowd was locked in, hanging onto every word, and left with a deeper appreciation for the art of storytelling.

Freestyle Saturday @ 106 & Park: Bars, Battles, and Brilliance

The day wrapped with pure hip-hop fire at Freestyle Saturday @ 106 & Park, hosted by Bow Wow. Four hungry MCs stepped into lyrical battle, aiming to be crowned the next King or Queen of freestyle.

With Kash Doll, Blind Fury, and Funny Marco as guest judges, and Lola Brooke hyping the crowd as audience correspondent, the competition was fierce, the crowd was lit, and the energy was all the way up. Each performance was a reminder that hip-hop lives in the heart of community, competition, and creative expression.

A Day to Remember

Day One of the BET Experience 2025 was more than an event—it was a living, breathing celebration of Black creativity, community, and culture. Whether you were discovering new talent, learning how to elevate your look, dancing with your favorite artist, or catching once-in-a-lifetime insights from TV legends—you were part of something special.

And the best part? This was just the beginning.
