Angela Stanton-King has one of the most nationally recognized
inspirational stories ever shared. After a troubled upbringing, Stanton-King ended up a young mother serving a non-violent prison sentence while pregnant with her fifth child. Stanton-King recalls being chained to a bed as she gave birth, a memory that will never leave her and has motivated her to be a voice for criminal justice reform. Stanton-King has gone from being a former felon to being a best-selling author, congressional political candidate and most importantly a celebrated voice for her community. Stanton-King partnered with award-winning filmmaker Qwantay “Bosco” Adams and activist Lionell “TJ” Tillman on a criminal justice reform tour titled, ‘A New Dawn for Justice’. The tour will debut in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 450 Auburn Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30312 at 6PM - 9PM.

Moderated by radio personality Shelly Winter, known for his self-titled primetime show on 95.5 WSB, the event has a mission of sparking conversation and support for pressing issues within the United States criminal justice system and to explore transformative solutions. Ash Cash Exantus, known as the Hip-Hop Financial Advisor and one of the premiere financial experts globally will join the panel with his unique perspective on financial literacy's affect on the criminal justice system and returning citizens.

Stanton-King says starting the tour in Atlanta was intentional as the city is known for its progressive stance on civil rights. “We know Atlanta is the birthplace of civil rights. This city has become one of the biggest contributors to thought leadership and our goal is to make sure that justice reform is one of the biggest platforms that shapes the political landscape this year. We’ve spent years focused on families across the border, when we have families here that need our help. We’re determined to create opportunities for our returning citizens that help them become successful contributors to our communities,” says Stanton-King.

‘A New Dawn for Justice’ will connect activists, experts, community leaders and others directed impacted by the justice system to engage in meaningful dialogue, share stories and advocate for comprehensive reform. Atlanta’s premiere panel will feature, southern hip hop artist Tab ‘Turk’ Virgil, Jr., commercial real estate owner Vaneesah J. Bahar and Walter and Casey Johnson, brothers of reality star Toya Johnson. The Johnson family endured tremendous loss losing siblings to gun violence in New Orleans.

Stanton-King, Adams and Tillman says their partnership with the tour will inspire collective action towards a future where justice truly serves all. “We’ve spent years focused on families across the border, when we have families here that need our help. We’re determined to create opportunities for our returning citizens that help them become successful contributors to our communities,” says Stanton-King.
