Lights, Purpose, and Powerful Storytelling: Vanish Makes a Statement at Its Atlanta Screening
Atlanta showed upâand showed outâfor the special screening of Vanish, the gripping Tubi Original film that has everyone talking. Held at the luxurious Silverspot Cinema, the Atlanta screening was more than just a movie night; it was a full-scale cinematic experience that blended glamour, community, and an urgent social message into one unforgettable evening.
From the moment guests arrived, the energy was undeniable. A packed house of film lovers, industry professionals, media, and local celebrities filled Silverspot Cinema, buzzing with anticipation. The venue itself set the tone perfectlyâsleek, modern, and upscaleâwith attendees mingling, enjoying handcrafted cocktails at the bar, and soaking in the vibrant ambiance before the main event began. Conversations flowed easily as photographers snapped photos and excitement built with every passing minute.

The red carpet moment brought the night to life. Cast and creatives from Vanish stepped into the spotlight, posing for photos and engaging with media outlets eager to hear about the film. There was a palpable sense of pride and accomplishment among the teamâthis was not just a screening, but a celebration of years of hard work, collaboration, and purpose-driven storytelling.
Once guests were directed into the theater, the room settled into an attentive hush. As the lights dimmed and Vanish began to roll, it became clear that this film was going to leave an impact. A taut thriller at its core, Vanish tackles the deeply troubling and often overlooked issue of missing Black women, weaving suspense and social commentary into a narrative that refuses to let viewers look away.

Following the screening, attendees were treated to a thoughtful and revealing Q&A with the cast and production team. The discussion offered deeper insight into the filmâs creation, its message, and the responsibility the storytellers felt in bringing this story to the screen. Lenox and Parker Magazine had the opportunity to speak with producer Donna Christopher, writer and co-executive producer Audra Nicole, and lead actress Shaquita Smithâthree women whose passion and intention are embedded in every frame of Vanish.

Building the Right Team and the Right Energy
Producer Donna Christopher emphasized that the success of Vanish began long before cameras started rolling. For her, everything starts with the scriptâand the people behind it.
âMy name is Donna Christopher, and I am one of the producers on the project of Vanish,â she shared. âWhen it comes to putting together the right team for a project, the first thing you have to make sure that you have is a well-developed script, which we did.â
She credited Audra Nicole and Lynette Blackwell for delivering a strong foundation, then highlighted the importance of assembling a team that not only excels at their craft but works well together. Collaborations with Blueprint Stories and Real Rebel Films helped bring the vision to life, ensuring that every moving part aligned.
Beyond logistics, Christopher stressed the human element of filmmaking. âWhen building relationships, you have to be kind to people,â she said. âYou have to pivot, donât panic. Everybodyâs humanâwe make mistakes. What matters is knowing how to shift from them.â
For Christopher, Vanish stands as proof that solid relationships, mutual respect, and a shared mission are just as important as talent when creating meaningful work.

A First Script with a Powerful Mission
For Audra Nicole, Vanish represents both a personal milestone and a bold creative statement. Serving as co-executive producer, writer, and actress, Nicole revealed that this project was two and a half years in the makingâand her very first screenplay.
âThis is my first ever script, first ever movie,â she said. âI began my writerâs journey in June of 2023, and this is the first project that I wrote.â
What inspired her was the glaring lack of attention given to missing Black women in mainstream media. Rather than shy away from the subject, Nicole leaned into it, choosing the thriller genre as a way to engage audiences while delivering a necessary message.
âI wanted to bring that conversation to the forefront with awarenessâto spark it on a national level,â she explained. âAnd I love thrillers, so I wanted to be creative with delivering that message.â
Nicole hopes audiences walk away both entertained and more aware of their surroundings, particularly when it comes to personal safety. And for those wondering if this is the last theyâll hear from her as a writer, she made it clear: this is just the beginning. With future projects already in development, Nicole is carving out a lane in conscious thrillers centered on the Black community.

Bringing Shavon Taylor to Life
Lead actress Shaquita Smith delivered a performance that anchored the film, portraying Shavon Taylor with vulnerability, frustration, and realism. As the emotional core of Vanish, Smith took the responsibility of the role seriously.
âThis movie is about missing Black women and bringing awareness,â Smith said. âI wanted to make sure that it was as honest as possible.â
Though sheâs no stranger to acting, Vanish marked her first thrillerâand a departure from roles sheâd played before. She admitted that even she found herself reacting to her characterâs choices while watching the film, laughing as she recalled talking back to the screen.
âThis is one of those films thatâs going to have viewers talking to the television,â she joked.

But beneath the humor lies a powerful takeaway. Smith emphasized that Vanish is a call to awarenessânot just of whatâs happening in the world, but of what might be happening right under our noses.
âWe see things and donât say things,â she noted. âThis movie highlights that thereâs stuff happening that you donât even realize.â
She closed with heartfelt gratitude for the Atlanta audience, thanking them for their support and loveâa moment that underscored just how deeply this project resonates with those involved.

More Than a Film
The Atlanta screening of Vanish was more than a successful eventâit was a moment. A reminder of the power of storytelling when entertainment meets intention. As the audience filed out of Silverspot Cinema, conversations continued, emotions lingered, and one thing was clear: Vanish doesnât just entertainâit demands awareness.
Now streaming on Tubi, Vanish is a thriller with purpose, and its Atlanta debut proved that stories like this are not only neededâtheyâre welcomed.
