Solano County celebrates Black History Month by exhibiting quilts made by two local needle-crafting circles: the Quilting Sisters and the Sew What Sisters.

These groups have a number of common members; they teach, encourage and support each other as they produce their work. Collectively the goal of these talented women is to keep the tradition of quilt-making alive. They create quilts that tell stories, and create lifetime bonds. The groups continue to maintain tradition by providing an amazing quilt exhibition you don’t want to miss in collaboration with the Solano County Library.

They have donated quilts to many nonprofit organizations that include the former Mission Solano, the University of California, Davis Medical Center and the Superhero Project. To those in need, the groups provide comfort and a tangible reminder that committed individuals can and do strengthen our community by making a difference in the lives of others.

Quilting Sisters and Sew What Sisters will presented a hands-on quilting workshop Saturday for all ages at the Vacaville Public Library-Town Square. The program was supported by the Vacaville Friends of the Library.
