Newport Beach Film Festival to honor Jacob Elordi with the Maverick Award
The 2025 Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) announced that Jacob Elordi will receive the Maverick Award on October 16th at 5:30pm at Regal Edwards Big Newport Cinema before the opening night of the annual festival. The presentation will take place immediately following a live recording of The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast, moderated by THR’s executive editor Scott Feinberg, in front of a festival audience. Nurturing an impressive body of work that encompasses both film and television, Jacob Elordi has quickly become one of Hollywood’s most sought-after talents. This year, Elordi stars as the iconic creature in Netflix’s highly anticipated Guillermo del Toro adaptation, “Frankenstein,” based on the classic Mary Shelley novel. The film made its world debut at Venice Film Festival, to rave reviews followed by TIFF where it won the First Runner Up for the TIFF People’s Choice Award. Elordi is known for his performances in “Saltburn,” “Priscilla,” “The Narrow Road the Deep North,” “Euphoria,” “On Swift Horses” and “Oh Canada.” Up next, audiences can see Elordi in Emerald Fennel’s “Wuthering Height” and Ridley Scott’s “The Dog Stars”.

Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” follows Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist, brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation. A retelling of the classic novel about what it means to be human, to crave love, and seek understanding. The film stars Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Oscar Isaac & Christoph Waltz.
