Exclusive Interview: Chef Simone Shares the Sweet Success of Introducing Couture Treats by Art Delectables to Costco—Revolutionizing Luxury Organic Desserts
In an exclusive interview, Deljah "Chef Simone" Dickson, founder of the luxury organic dessert brand Art Delectables, shares her inspiring journey of securing a coveted spot for her decadent Couture Treats in Costco.
Known for her passion for crafting indulgent yet health-conscious desserts, Chef Simone discusses how her love for food, rooted in her childhood, has driven her to break new ground in the industry.
From the challenges she’s faced as a Black woman entrepreneur to the thrill of offering her signature Dulce De Leche Cheesecake in one of the largest retail chains, Chef Simone opens up about her mission to redefine indulgence.
Chef Simone, congratulations on getting your luxury organic desserts into Costco! How does this major milestone feel for you and your brand?
Chef Simone: Thank you so much! It’s incredibly rewarding. Having Couture Treats by Art Delectables on Costco shelves is a dream come true. We’ve worked hard to create indulgent yet health-conscious desserts, and now we have the opportunity to bring them to an even wider audience. It's a huge win, not just for us but for minority-owned businesses aiming to break into mainstream retail.
Your desserts were featured at both the 2023 and 2024 Grammy Awards, as well as Super Bowl 56. How did these events impact your brand’s growth?
Chef Simone: Those events were pivotal for Art Delectables. Being featured at such prestigious occasions really elevated our visibility and credibility. It opened doors, leading to amazing partnerships like the one with Costco. We were able to show that our desserts aren’t just delicious, but they belong on the biggest stages, and now, in homes across the country.

What makes Art Delectables' desserts stand out from other offerings in the market?
Chef Simone: We focus on luxury and health without compromise. Our desserts are made with organic ingredients, and we use 30% less sugar, but you’d never know it from the taste! There’s no use of sugar alcohols or artificial dyes, which is rare in luxury desserts. We want people to indulge, but in a way that aligns with a health-conscious lifestyle.
Can you share the role the Vermont Slauson Economic Development Corporation (VSEDC) played in your journey?
Chef Simone: The VSEDC has been a crucial partner for us. Their support, especially during challenging times when we were displaced from our original kitchen, helped us stay resilient and focused. They provided resources and guidance, allowing us to continue growing and pursuing bigger opportunities, including this Costco deal. We’re proud to be aligned with their mission of empowering underserved communities.

Your Dulce De Leche Cheesecake has always been a hit. What do customers love most about it?
Chef Simone: The Dulce De Leche Cheesecake is a fan favorite because it’s rich, creamy, with a warm caramel flavor. It's indulgent, yet has 30% less sugar than typical cheesecakes. People love that they can treat themselves with less guilt. It’s a perfect blend of luxury and health-consciousness. That's why Costco chose to start with the Dulce De Leche. It's new to Costco, but a familiar favorite to our wonderful clients who are happy to know they can now find us at Costco as well.
What can people expect from the upcoming Costco Road Show?
Chef Simone: The Costco Road Show is going to be a lot of fun! We’re offering samples of our signature desserts, Dulce De Leche Cheesecake. It’s a chance for people to taste our treats and experience firsthand why we’re different. I’ll also be there to meet customers, share our journey, and talk about the importance of using organic, healthy ingredients in desserts. We might even share a Dulce De Leche Recipe with them.
As a Black woman entrepreneur in the culinary industry, what advice do you have for others who aspire to follow a similar path?
Chef Simone: My advice is to stay determined, stay authentic, and believe in your vision. The food industry is competitive, but if you’re passionate and true to your mission, people will recognize that. Build a strong network, take advantage of resources like the VSEDC, and always be willing to adapt and grow. Most importantly, never compromise on the quality of your product—that’s your signature.
